Ecvet SAYER- Chairman of the Board – CEO

An experienced, visionary, multi-lingual entrepreneur and founder of GYP, Mr.Sayer has successfully built GYP into the largest privately held integrated oil and gas company in Turkey. His track record for buying and building businesses was established with his first venture as a college student at Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey, where he majored in Economics and Industrial Relations. He is a strong proponent of vertical integration to achieve operating efficiency and maximize return on investment. He leveraged those concepts and invested his own sweat equity in the build-up of an automotive company, which earned him his first million at the age of 24.

Mr. Sayer honed his skills in the oil industry at family owned and operated Aladdin Middle East Ltd. While there, he restructured technical operations and administrative functions to lay the groundwork for international expansion, which led to the formation of GYP. Mr.Sayer is also Chairman of Ersan Petrol Sanayi A.S., as well as a member of several NGOs including PETFORM (Petroleum Platform Association) and TABA (Turkish American Businessmen Association).

Management Philosophy

Success in business can only be achieved when a clear vision is combined with right action. The organizing principles of military training are invaluable in the workplace. Speed, efficiency, problems solving and team work are all essential to building an enterprise. Most importantly, each team member must understand the mission, be capable and well trained and motivated to work together with other team members to achieve a common vision.

Efficiency is the other key driver of success. In building toward a grand vision, it is important to leverage the efficiency of vertical integration to take advantage of economies of scale, especially with the coordination of the logistics of supply and distribution. At the same time, rapidly growing companies need to seek value-added partners to reduce the time/cost premium associated with acquiring the skills or resources needed to reach the next level of growth. Balancing growth through a combination of vertical integration and value-added partnerships is the key to maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of a growing company.
